The Office

My office was in desperate need of organization!  I found many tips from Toni's blog, ABFOL, as well as Jen's blog, iHeart Organizing.  This project took me all day, but the end result is so worth it!  My husband and I are still newly weds and don't have a lot of money to spend on decorating and such so I found cheap ways to renovate what we already have.  So here it goes.....  please don't judge my before photos.....it's a good example why I am joining the challenge. Also, I did this room in a day so I was able to post it in time for the challenge....with that being said, in some of the pictures you will notice some things...like wet paint :)

BEFORE

AFTER
For the time being, I took the white curtains from our bedroom until I can get new ones.
To dress up my old recliner, I just got a pillow from Target. I also bought a end table, a lamp and sign that was on clearance at Target.  The little picture frame I already had that I just painted white.

For my desk, I just painted it white to match a little better with the room.
I store my laptop bag on the bottom the desk.
Off the the right corner is where I store all my magazines. Oh, and don't judge the black and white frames.....they still have the original store bought picture in them....I haven't had time to get our photos printed :)

This shelf is where I store all my new household binders, which you can read more about here.  This shelf also holds my mail station, which you can read more about here.

My new mail station also includes a very colorful box that stores all my envelopes and event cards all in one place.

My new filing system for all of our bills, important documents and pay stubs.

I finally have a spot in my desk drawer to store all my taxes in one location where they are all easily accessible.

No more tangled cords.  With Martha Stewart tags I labeled them all and put them in a basket where they are hidden.

(Don't mind the wet chalk paint!)
I love my new tins that now separate my markers, pens and pencils.  I could never find the color I wanted before!

My lovely new household binders that keep our lives so much more organized!
To learn more about my (red) home management binder go here.

I love playing with my new p-touch that my hubby got me for Christmas!

My drawer is no longer a hot mess! I purchased a divider from Target and placed everything so I can find it easily.  Let's just say this is more pleasing to the eye. Now I can  take a quick glance and know what I have on hand and what I need to buy.

More lovely storage that has beautiful labels my p-touch created.

My husband and I collect TONS of business cards from everywhere!  What better way to organize them all with a business card organizer we purchased from Staples.

My office needed the makeover badly, but not only does it look much better it is functional.  Everything has a spot and it is visible or clearly labeled to make life easier when I need something.  It was a lot of work, but I definitely had fun. Eventually, once my husband and I can afford it, I would love to do so much more with this room, but for now I think it is perfect for this household....well, anything is better than what it looked like before :)

I can't wait for the next project!

    1. I think I made my husband a little nervous when I randomly said, "I think I want to paint my desk white." :) In the end, I think he agrees...it makes the room look much better and it even helps to reflect more light into our small room. Thank you for checking it out, I definitely appreciate it!

  7. I love your blog design! It's so clean and neat. I think our husbands bought us the same p-touch - I recognize those labels. :) I like how you placed them off to the lower left on the drawers.

  9. Wow! Your makeover is great! It's a lot like how I would like to do to do our office. I'm soooo jealous that you did it in one day. I have two girls and a hub that works a lot so I did my best working every day and night (since the challenge started) between diaper changes, meals and meltdowns but, haven't completed my office yet. I will definitely be using yours for inspiration. I love that you did so much on a small budget...it really looks great! :-)

    1. I don't have any babies yet so I am fortunate to still have time and get a full game plan together before I do each room. I pick the day I am going to redo it, which is usually Saturday, and that I the day I have no distractions! I actually need to start doing smaller projects little by little and not do everything at once. It can be stressful to tackle a whole room at once. Thanks for your comment and I hope you stop back to check out our kitchen organization.
